So having my webtoon published on LINE, Tapas, Tumblr, Pinintrest, Instagram, Facebook, Smackjeeves etc I publish my webtoon on multiple platforms because as the saying goes, don’t put all of your eggs in one basket. That way it makes it so much easier to move the word ballon around when formatting for printed comic version and not having to worry about touching up the art underneath. Since I plan on printing my webtoon I like to make sure that I don’t have my speech bubbles covering and unfinished parts of my characters or background. I also add the word ballon after I rough draft the characters so that I can make sure everything doesn’t look overly cramped.

I use a rule of third to help me place my webtoon panel but here is a blog post where I share my format file set up. I usually draw two panels per webtoon file but usually my panel size are about half the size of my webtoon page. You can add all of your lines of dialogue to all of your files all at once!Īdding dialogue to one file at a time can be super time consuming so I use this feature a lot to help me get past my fear of the blank page and get something down on “paper” Webtoon Drawing Program This is another reason why I love using Clip Studio Paint for making my webtoon because they have a story text edit option. I also will just use the note app on my smartphone or on my computer and just type out the dialogue interaction line between the characters….it’s very basic and simple but it works~ Adding Dialogue in a Clip Studio Paint They have a really cool dialogue feature and scene feature for me to structure or organize my dialogue script. My favorite screenwriting or comic script program is Celtx. So if you’re having issues trying to outline a comic story try focusing just on answering the 5W1H when doing your story outline~ My webtoon making process What to use to write a Webtoon Comic ScriptĪfter I have my story or comic script outline what I do next is add the dialogue and the program that I use tend to change from time to time. It’s easier for me to tell a story when I see it as more so answering a question instead of seeing it as some big dynamic conversation I’m having with someone. So using the 5W1H to help me keep my story outline in order helps me to find an ending to my story. I have had trouble in the past writing a webcomic or a webtoon and it ending up on hiatus or I just don’t know where the story is going.

When I’m outlining my story I like to make sure I answer the 5W1H question (Who, What, When, Where, Why, How)Īnswering these questions or having these questions in mind help me to not feel so overwhelmed with my story.Īll I need to do is make sure each of these are covered that way my story is technically full….at least to my standard. Add the Dialogue in a Comic Art Program. There are so many ways to go about making a webtoon comic but lets do a quick speed run of how I make a webtoon! If you want to upload your comic onto websites then you can do it all from your smartphone by taking a photo and uploading it that way! Uploading a Traditional comic page onto webtoon If you’re a traditional comic artist then all you will need is a simple sheet of paper and pencil. In order to make a digital webtoon webcomic you’ll need an art app like Clip Studio Paint or ibis Paint and a drawing tablet or touchscreen so you can use your fingers or a pen stylus to draw on mobile device.
